Fossil Fair for Kids!

Our next group event is:
Fossil Fair for Kids!!The Victoria Paleontology Society is hosting its 15th Annual Fossil Fairon March 26-27th at the Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary (3873 Swan Lake Rd)
The Fair has a display of diverse ancient fossil animals and plants, including:dinosaur bones, corals, mollusks, insects, giant palm leaves, and more!

This Fair is educational and open to the public! Children can do these activities: sandbox fossil dig, fossil scavenger hunt,fossil coloring, rubbings, and more!
Date for our group: Saturday, March 26th. Meet at VIRCS at 10:30am (or, if you prefer to drive, meet us at the Fair at 11am) to take the bus.Fair is Free of Cost for us!

Volunteer Needed: we're looking for a lifeguard to help with this year's Summer Camp

If you're are a qualified lifeguard looking to have fun this summer, consider helping out at our Youth Strides summer camp! We are looking for an NLS certified lifeguard to come to camp for 2-3 hours a day from July 19th to 23rd, preferably in the afternoons.

This year Strides is a t Camp Barnard in Sooke. During the week you'll get a chance to meet and have fun with immigrant and refugee youth aged 13-18, help them stay safe as they explore the great Canadian outdoors, and enjoy lunch with us before you go.

Strides Summer Camp was a huge success!

24 newcomer youth spent an amazing week swimming, exploring the woods, and learning how to work together at Camp Barnard in Sooke last week. Thank you Youth Leaders for making this great event possible!

September is coming soon, and that means it's almost time to start our Youth Volunteer activities again. This year we have four weekly volunteer opportunities working with youth and children:

• Youth Activity Night Leader
• Homework Club Tutor
• Sparks Activity Helper
• One-on-One Tutor

Strides Summer Camp

While many Enable Program activities are inactive for the summer break, Negin and the Youth Leaders are busy preparing for Strides, our free summer camp for youth, from July 18th to 25th.

Strides is the highlight of the year for many kids new to Victoria, and this year will be no exception thanks to the hard work of Negin and her team of youth leaders!

Strides Summer Camp

For those who have a passion for youth is our annual Strides Summer Camp. This free camp takes place over 7 days at the end of July, and involves between 15 to 25 newcomer youth from all over the world.

With leadership workshops, fun outdoor events, and guest facilitation by local bands and community groups, this is an amazing experience for volunteer youth leaders and youth who attend.

If you are interested in becoming a Strides youth leader, contact me for more details. Leaders must commit for the 7-day camp, plus bi-weekly planning meetings leading up to the event.
